Discussion
The outcome of my discussion with Casual Byluttan: what the problems were, and what solutions I proposed.
Client Problems
Marketplace admin fees eating the margin
Selling premium clothing on marketplaces means margins cut by very high admin fees on every transaction. The better it sells, the bigger the cut.
International buyers could not buy directly
Local marketplaces do not reach overseas buyers well. A premium brand that should go international stayed locked in the domestic market.
No customer data of their own
Every transaction happened on someone else platform. The client had no buyer database for repeat orders, promos, and long-term brand building.
Proposed Solutions
Independent store with full e-commerce features
Catalog, cart, checkout, and payment run on their own website. Every rupiah of sales comes in full with no marketplace admin cuts.
Instant confirmation and instant shipping
Orders confirmed automatically that very second, with instant shipping options for covered areas. A marketplace-grade shopping experience with no middleman.
Open to international buyers
An English version plus cross-border shipping and payment support lets overseas buyers check out directly just like local ones.
A user friendly admin dashboard
Manage products, stock, orders, and sales reports from one simple dashboard running on WordPress as the client requested. Even non-technical store staff can run full operations.

"We finally have our own online store. Margins are safer, and international buyers started coming in. The dashboard is easy for our team to use."
Conclusion
The Casual Byluttan e-commerce website project was completed and went live in October 2025. The brand now owns its sales channel: margins no longer cut by marketplaces, international buyers can check out directly, and customer data became a company asset.
The main lesson: marketplaces are great for starting out, but a premium brand needs its own home. Sales channel independence is a long-term margin investment.
